What it means
Touchless rate has become a common benchmark vendors cite, but the number alone doesn't say much without context on how decisions are reached and whether they're auditable. A high touchless rate achieved through explainable, traceable automation is a very different product than one achieved through opaque shortcuts. This is where auditability becomes the more meaningful metric to evaluate alongside speed.
